data stored on the desktop

I keep about 30 gb of videos on my desktop.So my question is how much can I store on the desktop instead of my hard drive.I have a 200 gb hard drive so should I store them there instead and create a shortcut of the folder or continue storing them on my desktop.

Don't keep storing them on your desktop. It will just use unnecessary resources and slow loading stuff down. Just make a new folder and copy everything from desktop into there (you can even make the folder a direct folder on the desktop)
