Thank you,
Now when I add this I'll be able to access the internet on my home comp from my work comp?

Is that what you're saying?

You cannot access the internet unless you're physically connected to a network of some kind.

There may be people in your neighborhood with unprotected wireless networks :p

You could buy a wireless NIC adapter and plug into their network.

Caution: This may or may not be a good idea. Some people intentionally leave their networks unprotected. Why? Because once you connect, they can SEE your computer and connect to it. Most firewalls don't block packets locally, so if the person is a l33t hacker, then your computer will be as good as gone.

What Quinton McLeod said is right although if you do choose to do it, then your running a huge risk, you could lose your job, your possessions and get charged ... that's how serious it is :p

I would personally not go ahead with this unless you have full go ahead from your Network administrator.

They would do it securely and might do it all for you even.

The network guy here were I work knows if you install and uninstall any application, also he knows everything you, I do on my Pc, He probably has even read this whole issue and laff at you behind my back. Everyone here is on Admin Rights so we can do anything but pay the consequences.

the windows XP remote desktop thing works fine...

if you have XP pro, right click on the my computer icon,
now go to the rempte tab, and enable remote access...

now at work just use the remote desktop connection tool, (start>programs>accessories>communications>remote desktop conection).

OR...

get VNC (www.realvnc.com)...
(you can make that work with port 80)

Getting firefox and a proxy will do nothing more than just changing the proxy setttings in internet explorer, so that's a bit of a non-starter really...

Of course all of this will only work if it's set up to be allowed to work.

Most firewalls will also have attached Proxy servers (and it's the proxy servers that are doing the filtering).

So you can only access the proxy server (that's your gateway). and you can only access that on a proxy port (8080, 3128).
only the proxy server can access the internet on port 80.

e.g for any of these ideas to work you're giong to have to get the proxy server to proxy non http packets, (which it won't)...

if they work get your bosses to give me a call and I'll come and show them how to secure the network properly!
