Hi

Built a new computer:

ASUS A7N8XE Delux
AMD 2700
Crucail Ballistix 2x256
WD caviar 80 Gb
CDROM drive

The bios has been set up, It recognises the HDD as Primary Master and CDROM as Secondary Master. After bios the message reads Boot from CD and then waits for a while then reads MEDIA TEST FAILURE, CHECK CABLE. I've tried rearranging all the cables and different jumper settings but nothing seems to work.

Please help.
Do i need to do anything else before putting the windows disc in the CDrom

thanks

try using a different ide cable. its maybe a dodgy one! that used to happen to me with a sata cable.

make sure the cables esp power are pluugged into the drive properly.

at a long shot reset the cmos. and see if this does anything.

no, to install windows onto the hard drive just insert the cd and set it to boot from that, then walk through windows installation process. (unless you want the drive to be partitioned - you must do this before installing windows)
