Which is better for the web developer (Adobe Creative Suite and Macromedia Studio):

Thank you!

Pro of Mac, Stability, Since OSX has adopted a Unix style core it has prooved to be one of the most stable OS's available.

Con of MAC, Massive expense, and limited software range.

Pro's of windows, relativly cheap, lots of software development, disrtibuted everywhere, (business schools and homes so lots o people know how to use it.

Con of windows, relative instability, Although XP is better than it's predecessors there are still some stability issues, (although these are usually caused by badly made third party apps.

For the web developer, I'd have to say windows is best...
Simply because of the amont of tools avialable,

Although any webdeveloper should have a mac at least to test on, as well as having various versions of IE and firefox/mozilla

Do you think stability and security will improve with the coming of the new Windows OS?

Pros of Mac: No viruses, good looking, easy to navigate
Cons of Mac: Not all programs run on it, must buy specialist Mac Office and games, etc., only runs on Apples
Pros of Windows: Many things will run on it, easy to use
Cons of Windows: Many viruses, target for hackers
Which is better for the web developer (Adobe Creative Suite and Macromedia Studio): Windows, just because you will be developing for a target audience on Windows, so it's much easier to design things and then view them. Also, larger range of tools.

But Mac will only run on Apples at the moment, as they have a different instruction set. You will have to either hack and remodel the Mac OS, or wait until there are Intel Apples.

Stability and security won't be too much of an issue, stability maybe though as it's such a graphically advanced OS. Many people will turn to Linux and Mac OSes because of DRM, I think at least 5% will, that's my guess at least :p The DRM stuff, like Windows being able to shut off VGA ports if it thinks your recording off them, and of checking your PC for illegal material, is dictatorship - Microsoft would make themselves dictators

What is with Linux? Can it run windows-based programs?
Yes, some windows programs can be run under linux, either because they are already ported to Linux, (or even ported from Linux to windows),

or you can use a windows API emulator (such as WINE) which enables you to run a lot of windows programs on Linux.
