Corsair RAM

I would say they're almost even:

OCZ Gold Series 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit System Memory - Retail

CORSAIR XMS 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit System Memory - Retail

Corsair just cost a bit more. OCZ's Platinum (2GB version) is probably the best as far as timings go for it's size:

OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Platinum System Memory - Retail

if you are interested in 2x1GB sticks, Ballistix is the way to go. They use the -5B chips from Micron, which Micron is NOT willing to share with anyone else because they are just that good.

i've got corsair valueselect RAM in my rig and i love it. i got 1gig for a little under 100 bucks and u can't beat that if u ask me. i wish i had known about XMS before i baught it though because i've found XMs 2 be powerful and awesome performance ram ^^

there are better performance RAM out there. If you can find some value RAM ( I highly doubt you will) that has some BH-5's or CH-6's on it, then thats some good deal.

I wish I could give better input but I use Corsair XMS series and I love it, I get wicked timing and the overclockability seems to be there. I know OCZ makes excellent RAM as well and in fact I had probably the same issues as you are when I was deciding between them.

your corsair XMS RAM came with heatsinks on it right? if it did do u kno how much of a difference it makes? i'm thinkin of getting heatsinks for my ram just because i am a low temp pc freak lol, which is like a sin it seems because my computer tells me it overheats, lol

heatsinks that come with the RAM are horrible. They trap heat instead of releasing it. They use horrible quality thermal tape. the head just gets trapped under the "heat spreaders".

Hmm ok well I can get:

2x 1GB Corsair DDR400 RAM ($324)
2x 1GB Geil DDR400 RAM ($363.70)
2x 1GB Kingamx DDR400 RAM ($326.80)
2x 1GB Kingston DDR400 ECC RAM ($423.60)
2x 1GB Performance OCZ RAM ($405.80)
2x 1GB Platinum OCZ RAM ($465.70)

I'd get OCZ Platinum. It's awesome.
