AMD Athlon64 X2 4400+ 2.2Ghz 2MB $748.00
AMD Athlon64 X2 4600+ 2.4Ghz 1MB $994.40
AMD Athlon64 X2 4800+ 2.4Ghz 2MB $1,298.00

Which would you say is the best, not by performance but by performance per dollar? I am to be using the computer for video editing mostly.

Cheers, Josh

oo video editing? i wouldnt even go for an x2. i would jus go for the athlong 3000+, it has the best price vs. performance score. but if u want me to choose from the list i would go with 4400.

Lol abowlofrice, ur not mkn this any easier.... after 2 months of research i decided to go x2 because alot of video editing programs can make use of the 2nd core, and i figure in the future even more programs will be dual core compatible....

and hey, whatever i get it must be faster than my current pc (pentium 4 1.51ghz, no hypterthreading, 660MB SDRAM, 110GB hard disk space... HAHAHAH [laughing at self])

Pair it up with Gentoo Linux 64-bit kernel nVidia 7800GTX SLI mode, 2 gigs of PC3500 RAM, and Two 400G IDE Hard drives. You will be editing 4 lyf.

Why IDE? might as well get 2 147GB 15kRPM Cheetahs SCSI woohoo :D Then you will be editing for life.

That 4800+ is waayyyy toooo much. Not worth it. I agree with the 4400+ route.

Definitely 4400+. 4800+ is only for enthusiasts with big pockets, whilst 4600 is just...well, no one wants it.

You know what? Get an FX-55. These CPU costs less than the 4800+...and even les than the 4600+
