Amd Vs. Intel

Intels only really beat AMD's at encoding and PCMark, although I've heard that PCMark is biased towards Intel, because when the tasks is puts the CPU through are done manually, AMD wins.

So basically, what I'm saying is that there's no point getting any Intel, unless all you do is encoding and proper multi-tasking. Of course, if you can afford the X2's, you got no problem with those tasks either.

We'll see what Conroe, Merom etc. can do.

I can obviously see that there are alot of AMD fans here and the link provided shows AMD beat Intel, but.............

1. What does "better" mean?
2. Are the differences in numbers significant to the average user? ( Ex - the Callaway C7 Corvette is faster than the Dodge Viper GTS-R, but does it really matter?)
3. Will the average user actually be able to tell the difference?
4. Blind testing would be a good test (the mind is a terrible thing)
5. Is the testing biased in any way?

Not trying to stir the pot, but just trying to make some reason out of published data. Numbers don't mean much if it doesn't trickle down to the average user...........
God knows advertising sells but it's not necessarily the best thing going.
