Intels only really beat AMD's at encoding and PCMark, although I've heard that PCMark is biased towards Intel, because when the tasks is puts the CPU through are done manually, AMD wins.
So basically, what I'm saying is that there's no point getting any Intel, unless all you do is encoding and proper multi-tasking. Of course, if you can afford the X2's, you got no problem with those tasks either.
We'll see what Conroe, Merom etc. can do.
