That's what a lot of people do, seldomly will a person buy the 'newest' thing out. Like an ATi X1800XT, no one is going to buy it right now, it's $600, but in a year or two, everyone will buy one or something else that is equal to it.
But if I was you I would stock up in the funds, because PCI-E II is coming out in 2007. Along with QUAD-core CPUs, said an AMD chart I read on this forum somewhere.
