Getting a new pc soon....

Right now I have a Toshiba Satellite M35-S456 notebook and I want to get a powerful desktop. The notebook is great for just about everything i need but can get very sluggish sometimes. Recently I upgraded the memory from 512mb to 1.5gb. That helped out alot but the processor still leaves me wanting more. So I decided I would get me a desktop .

I really want to get a desktop with the new Athlon 64 X2 processor in it. The processor probably needs to be in the 4000 range.
Here are some other things it needs to have:
1gb of ram(at least)
200gb+ hard drive
TV Tuner
Windows Media Center 2005
Good graphics card
TV out and DVI out

As you all proably know, it is almost impossible to find a pc out there with a high end x2 processor(dealing with major brands HP,Sony, etc). Is there any place i can get a pc with these specs for under $2000?

Could i get a HP m710e with a x2 3800+ processor and buy a 4600+ or 4800+ processor and put it in?

Any help would be appreciated!

Yeah, actually if you build a comp yourself, you could easily get those specs for around $1600 actually. Prebuilt might be a little more expensive (duh), so it depends if you really want to built it or not. Building a comp yourself is something I totally recommend. It's not really hard at all. If you want some guides, post and I'll give you some. Yeah, I saw an HP that had an amd x2 3800+. It is possible (make sure it's the right socket though) to take out the 3800+ and put in a 4400+ or even a 4800+, but, then again, that's such a waste of money... if you really don't want to build a comp, however, and you have the money, why not just go somewhere like cyberpower or ibuypower or even alienware (expensive) and get a custom built one there and not have to worry about buying a comp and replacing the cpu and just have it lying around (unless you sell the extra cpu). It just depends on you wanting to build your own I guess...

alienware most likely has the best prebuilt machines.

there is some nice ones with an amd x2, and u can custom those too. (atleast u could a while back) and www.alienware.com for the main page.

But if u build one yourself it will be so much cheaper than those ones. So if u think u could do it built one yourself. It's not that hard, I build my 1st computer when I was 13.

Alienware are expensive, it's a bit like buying clothes - the Tesco Value jeans may look and feel the same, but you can't say their Fubu can you???

Take a look at http://www.mesh.com, their a UK company but they might deliver to the USA. The 4800+ is way higher than what you need, and unless you wanna pay around $650+ for the CPU alone then don't get it. The X2 3800+ or the X2 4000+, even the X2 4200+ are the ones your looking for.

If you want future proof, go dual core. If you want to save money, which you obviously don't need to, go single core. So dual core is your way forward :D

If you choose single core, get the Athlon 64 4000+. Otherwise, any X2 CPU will do. I personally like the Toledo 4400+ (I think? Too lazy to look up). If you give me some time later on, I will compile a list of hardware for you for under $2000 using a dual core setup.

what do you need media edition?

what i would do would be get like a really big 500gig hdd and partion it xp and media edition
