Compressing files

I have like 35 gigs worth of movies on my HD. I want a program that will compress them a lot so i can free some space on my HD untill i can burn some of these movies on DVD's. Whats a good program that will compress the files so i will get a lot of space that my movies took?

Not a good idea with movies. Mainly bcuz u will lose sound quality + video q.lity.

Why don't you look into getting a external HDD?

I think he means like .zip. I'm not exactly sure though.

use winrar... I converted a 1gb file to be 850mb...you will notice a big difference from 35gb..

yeah, i suppose winRAR, though i think unless you wanna pay, u need to get like3.41, cause u need to pay for version 3.5...so yeah..
