Hard Drive Speed

Ok, so, I think what is messing up my computer is my Hard Drive. It's IDE, 5400rpm, with 2mb cache, and it's causing allll sorts of errors. Now, I need a new hard drive, because two days ago, it screwed up and windows wouldn't boot, i had to reformat, and now there are lots of errors, and it's slowing my computer wayyyy down. What is a good hard drive, I don't quite understand the difference between Serial ATA150, and SATA 3.0GB/s. And what would be better?

I would get the first one. It's SATA and it's got a lot of cache to store prefetch info. 200GB is a lot of storage too making that Maxtor drive a must have.

make sure your mobo has sata inputs if you are going to get one.. doesn't go in the same place as ide ones.

Yeah, I was about to mention that.

SATA drives will et you a good speed compared to the ewy speed you have

Ok, so the first then? Well, it says there are 4 x SATA II, NV RAID 0/1/0+1 JBOD, on my mobo, I hope that means it will work.

OK, it supports both SATA I and SATA II. SATA I is SATA 150 or SATA 1.5Gb/s. SATA II is SATA 300 or SATA 3.0Gb/s. SATA II is faster than SATA II, so wouldn't I want the SATA 3.0Gb/s hard drive instead of the slower one? Or does the 16Mb cache make up for that?
