Well i'm building a computer and need a processor thats gonna last me like 3 years....can someone give me a list of processors that would last me at least 3...hopefully 4 years...IT HAS TO BE AMD

Here's my top three with the first one being the cheapest one I would get:

AMD Athlon 64 4000+ San Diego 1GHz FSB 1MB L2 Cache Socket 939 Processor - Retail

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Toledo 1GHz FSB 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket 939 Dual Core Processor - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103546

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ Toledo 1GHz FSB 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket 939 Dual Core Processor - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103544

Those are my personal preference in order from least to greatest. The 4000+ is actually pretty good for the price. I would grab it in a heartbeat.

if you must get AMD atleast 3700+ and get the sandiego core on what ever you get double the cache over the venice.

I hear that the Manchester core clocks better than the Toledo, but it does have that extra cache. There's always trade-offs which makes decisions so hard.

ummm....i'd get the 3500....but i need it to last til i'm a soph. in college...and i'm a soph in HS right now....that 4 years if you do your math right...the dual core will last me at least those 4 years even with the quad cores coming out in a year and a half....probably by the time i'm ready to upgrade the quad cores will be down in price a lot.....anybody know what 2 cores make up the AMD X2 3800+ ....I've always wondered

so its 2 toledo cores....both using 512KB of l2 cache......Thats crazy....if i post what kind of parts i'm going to buy you think you could tell me how long it'll last???
