This value ram ok?

Alien ware if I'm correct use Patriot on the laptops so they must be pretty good. As for the mobo support use Everest to see what mobo you got and check on MFG website for info on it.

the newer mobo's have whats called duel channel mode, you can take 2 sticks of ram and put them on the mobo (usually color corodinated) and enable duel channel mode.. its just a faster way the system reads the ram. There is no problem with Value ram just don't expect to do any overclocking with it.. Some people are very anal about there ram but most of the time different brands are all cut from the same sheet. If your board is a duel channel board and supports pc 3200 then you shouldn't have any problem..

this mobo does not support duel channel

this one does

Look at the ram slots (dims) and see the color coordination? I just used msi boards as a demonstartion, almost all brands of boards have non duel channel and then duel channel ofcourse get duel channel if you can I suggest at least 2 sticks of 512 ddr 400

Low-latency DDR RAM isn't worth the money. Go with higher frequencies if you want extra performance, just make sure it operates at 1T command rate.

So yeah, value RAM is fine, as long as it's branded RAM.

OK so my mobo has matching colors for the ram slots but it only has two slots. THe mfg website says it supports ddr 400. But it said nothing about dual channel ddr 400.
It did say it supports dual channel ddr 333. So again, can a mobo support dual channel pc2700 and not dual channel pc3200?

I seen mobos that the only way they will support pc3200 was when you over clock it this would be stated on manual. Looks like all you got is pc2700 in dualmode
