It's officially out!!!! The geForce 7800 GTX 512MB launch tomorrow November 14, Monday. The XFX's GeForce 7800 GTX 512MB uses NVIDIA's Quadro-cooler. The card's default frequencies are also revealed and XFX has set them to 580MHz GPU and 1730MHz memory. Not the least to say impressive if we compare to today's high end GeForce 7800 GTX 256MB which works at 430MHz/1200MHz from factory. Too expensive at nearly $800. Cheaper to get two 7800GTX 256MB and SLi them together.

There are already some quick performance tests with the card and it seems to be very close to stretching past the 10,000 border with 3Dmark on its own with a Athlon 64 4000+ processor. With a faster processor the card will most likely pass the 10,000 limit which is about 1000 points more than a Radeon x1800 XT can do.

It could be at that price too. I hear different prices. You do know what nvidia's doing right? They don't plan on releasing too many of these cards. The 7800 GTX 512MB is probably a public relations strategy by nVidia due to the threat ATi has with their new x1800XT. Nvidia doesn't want to leave any doors open for ATi by launching a card that reclaims the spot as the fastest around.

i sed around....not exactly at that price. besides 512 mb of memory doulbes the original and the speeds are faster, the price differnce from the original one will be much greater.

The price is going to be high priced and with the 7800GTX 256MB already mainstream, why would people want to spend another $700-$800 for 512MB model so soon? Nvidia rushed this card out because management knows ATi is gaining ground. The release is too close together. Management strategy to limit the number of the 512MB cards to see how sales go before mass producing it further. All speculations from what I can dig up.

Here's another shot of the card:

That is one HOT card...Look how massive that heatsink is. It's really heavy too. The funny thing is, it's suppose to use less power than the x1800XT.
