buying a gaming pc

hey i am from australia and i was wondering if any of you could help me make a gameing pc with a max budget of $1000 Australian which is like $700 american i think.
My idea so far is:
Asrock 939Dual-SATA2 Motherboard - $99.95
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Socket 939 - $189.95
512Mb PC3200 DDR400 MEMORY (RAM) - $49.00
SPARKLE 256MB 6800GS PCIX16 VIDEO CARD - $399.00
SAMSUNG Black 16X DVD+/-RW Dual Layer Burner - $60.00
XG EXTREME GAMER SideWinder BLACK 400watt with Window - $125.00
Seagate SATA 80GB HDD - $79.90
total : $1,002.80
but that is a bit much

try to get a cheaper case&psu. Then u have some money to buy more ram. U should have atleast 1Gb. Other than that there really ain't much that we should change, unless u want a less powerfull gpu which would leave more money for the other parts.
 
You should never neglect the power supply and think any one will do. Make sure you get a good power supply and I would get a gig of ram.
 
These days, 450 watt power supply should be the new minimum for gamers. Those video cards draw power like crazy. Yes, I agree you need more RAM. Sparkle video card? Never heard of it, but if it uses the 6800 chipset, then I guess they're ok. That's a lot of money for a case. Get a $45 one and buy a new power supply. You'll save tons.
