Hi,

Having used Windows XP professional for over 3 years, I have decided to go back to the days of Windows 2000. I need a relatively new system so I have decided to build a new one from scratch.

Now my question is, would 2000 be able to handle new hardware given that it is nearly 6 years old?

Would it run ok with a new celeron d system and 512MB ram and an 80GB hard drive? Is there any actual limit of how much processing power you can use with 2000?

Please give me your best computing advice.

Andy.

it should be ok. i prefer 2000 too because it isnt as annoying as xp. but profesional is good too. i beleive 2000 will work on ur system fine.

Go with the professional. I don't know why is it happening, but in Advanced Server, I kept on losing my internet conection

Aside from the fact that your OS would be a bottleneck to the latest and greatest 64 bit technology, there are no potential problems. Windows 2000 is still widely used so support is there, but eventually like Windows 98, it will end pretty soon.
