Hello everyone, this is my 1st post, and i hope u can help

I have got a Intel Celeron 2.8ghz, 768mb ddr 333 ram, its just a basic machine, doesnt do anything apart from transfer files and my studies and watch movies, i recently installed Intel Active monitor, and things have been fine, i then get a msg saying pc is over heating and currently running at 64 degrees, im sure this cant be healthy. my computer is on virtually 24/7 tho.

any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

wait 64c or 64F if its 64c thats not so bad for an intel cpu but still high. if its 64f lol u shouldnt worry at al that is really cold. anyway if u feel its that bad get a new heatsink or fan or a better case with for air flow.

my apologies, 64 C.
it is pretty high considering it was running 43 C

CPU fan is running at just over 3000 rpm

i do have another fan running at just over 2000 rpm, case's side panel is opened and its currently on the floor

wow, 64C is just insane. Nothing should be running that high idle. I would get a new cpu cooler.

64C is high, but it isn't terrible. Also, keeping the side panel off is bad for temps. Air is designed to flow through the case, and if the side panel is off, air won't flow correctly. Anyway, I would just invest in a nice heatsink/fan like Fierce said.

As Spank said, you should invest in a new cooler, but don't forget to get some good thermal gel as well, because it's good to have good thermal gel rather then stock gel. But in my opinion... even 64'C is like... WOW!!!

okay, i dont think your mobo is 64C and your cpu 54 C, that is just insane, get some airflow going through your case and get a new cpu cooler, or the life of your cpu will shorten.

and how much will it shorten it by?

and if it dies...good cuz i wanted to put a thermaltake volcano 11 but this is my moms comp that i am on more than her.

so i will say ha ha mom i wanted a better one but u said no.

but i did put a kinda junky one on better than the stock i think, but it didnt make a difference idont think. so....
