[RESOLVED] Moving programs from 1 HDD to another

Hiya all!

I have just installed a new hard drive in my comp and I wondering; Is it possable to transfer some installed games and programs from my old hard drive to this new one, without interupting anything.

I would also want my new drive ( G: ) to be the defult place to install stuff and to have "My Documents" on.

Thanks,
Jamie

There are some other threads on this matter that you may want to have a look at, do a forum search for new harddrive and that sort of things, there is a program which you can buy and it does what you need to be done.

Are there any other programs out there?

Ive just spend £85 on this hard drive and I not wish to pay anymore...

Thanks
Jamie

Hmm....
A hard one try these:

Clones you hard drive from acronis:
http://www.acronis.com/promo/ATI/true-image-005.html?ad=A12010306

Does the same thing and clones it again from Kanguru: This one isnt a program
http://www.kanguru.com/clone4hd.html

A cheap one from V-COM
http://www.v-com.com/product/Copy_Commander_Home.html

Look at this i found on another forum:
http://www.duxcw.com/digest/Howto/hd/cpyhd/

Or you could use something like norton ghost and take an image.

Enjoy.
If i helped please give reputation

I looked at those programs, but they clone the WHOLE hard drive when I only want a few programs transferd..

If I just copy the files accross, will everyting still work? Does the regersty need updating?

Thanks
Jamie

EDIT: I tried moving a game from one drive to another (cut+paste) and I think it worked! Thanks again. Jamie
