Setting up a HDD as a slave

I had posted a question here earlier, where I was having trouble with logging into windows. I decided that I would go ahead and pull the hard drive from the other computer (crashed one), and pull the important files from it onto this computer.

I have two questions:

#1: Is it possible to do this? Or will I still have to have the username and password?

#2: How do I do it? lol

#1 Of course it's possible and no, you don't have the username and all that.

#2 Put the HDD in a free space, connect the wires and change the jumper to slave. If that doesn't work, put the jumer as cable select...but when you do this, the power bust be OFF

if you do put the second one as slave, make sure the first one is set to primary and not cable select.
