nothing happens when i simply view the document, but whenever i start scrolling Adobe starts using up 100% of my RAM and it even pauses for a couple of seconds sometimes. but a few seconds later, my RAM usage would return to the normal 0-2% usage. i have 256 RAM on my PC at P4 2.6 GHz

does anybody have any idea why this might be happening?

no other program on my computer, besides my games use up even close to this much RAM.

ideas or help would be much appreciated

Adobe is very fond of using ram.. oh yes, that program just loves to eat it up all day long. I think that it's just that you have 256mb, which is the bare, and I mean bare, minimum these days. I would upgrade to 512mb soon, if not 1g, which is the best for today. Anything higher and you're going for vid. editing and the like. I seriously recommend that you get another stick of ram if you can.
