7800GTX, ATI X1800 or wait for G72

G72 is nVidia's next architecture which will use 90nm processing like the X1800XT does. IMO, decide which is more important: price or performance? If price is, either get the 7800GTX now or wait until the G72 comes out and for the 7800GTX to fall in price. If performance, just wait for G72 when it comes out.

whens the g72 come out? i wanna get a new card but maybe if the 7800 price falls all the rest will. yay maybe i will only spend 50bucks lol.

Actually, the X1800 XL doesn't beat the 7800 GTX. It barely beats the 7800 GT in some benchmarks...

OOOO link i wanna see!
this guy ocd a x1800xt to beat 2 non ocd 7800gtxs in sli...

The X1800 comes with a 512MB version...but I like the new one from 3D labs...1GB of video memory...and lots of money to get!

Yes, I know...I'm the one who posted that here.

The X1800 XT was overclocked to 877.5mhz core and 1950mhz memory and it beat out TWO stock 7800 GTX's in SLI on 3DMark05. 12278 3DMark points...amazing. Keep in mind, this is from a single video card too...

Go check out benchmarks at Anandtech.com, Tomshardware.com or Xbitlabs.com. All of them have benchmarks on the new X1800's. The X1800 XT owns all, but the X1800 XL doesn't do as well. Different architectures.

Bah you're all missing a very important thing!

ATi is said to release a NEW video card shortly after the X1800 comes out, which it will come out I think November 5th, or already has come out I don't know.

BUt this new card by ATi, which is said to come out SOON, which I think means early 06', but, the G72 is coming out early 06' as well. I think this X1800XT is just to give ATi fans and nVidia a look at what ATi can do with 8 less pixel pipelines. Kind of makes you wonder what they can do with 24 pixel pipelines.

All and all, wait till at least March. I know I know it's a long wait, but the wait is sure to please everyone. With the new ATi card coming out, and the new nVidia card coming out, I think it's in your best interest to save your money to buy one of the new cards coming out in early 06'.
