Windows Media player won't show video

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has ever had a problem with their media player not showing any video? My player (Player 10) plays audio fine but the screen is a dark grey all the time. I redownloaded the player but that didn't work. I did a microsoft update and no updates were found. The video card works fine because my power dvd player and quicktime work okay. If anyone knows of anything, please let me know. Thanks

you most likely just need the right codecs. do a search for media player codecs, xvid, divx etc.

Almost certainly a codec issue. Check out http://home.hccnet.nl/h.edskes/mirror.htm to download every codec you could possibly need

Just take K-lite Mega codec pack. It has every codec I have ever needed.

I downloaded the K-Lite mega codec package (roughly 24 megs), installed it and rebooted my system. The player still doesn't show anything. The screen is a blackish brown and the audio plays but nothing else.

try adjusting gamma, brightnes and contrast.

WMA has problems playing dvds, at least on my computers, but if its like an mpeg, avi, etc. it should play fine... It also tells you if you need to download a codec.
