ATI pwns NVIDIA!!

The X1800 XT overclocks like a BEAST! It's insane!

http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=26818

12278 3DMarks for a single X1800 XT overclocked to 877.5mhz core and 1980mhz memory (stock speeds are 625mhz core and 1500mhz memory). This score is higher than two stock 7800 GTX's in SLI. Just insane.

The more pipes the better because more pipelines allow big stream of data to be processed. Nvidia's latest 7800GTX GPU allows programs with up to 65,536 shader instructions to be carried out in a pipeline, with 24 pipelines working side by side simultaneously.

The R520 core works way differently though. It uses the 90nm process for chip fabrication.

The R520 core explained.

Yeah, but look at the CPU they're using too. It helps to bring the score up. That is a crazy setup. I'll bet the CPU and video card came out close to $1500-$2000.

Not that much. 3DMark05 focuses on the GPU, not the CPU. With that processor and the video card the cost would be about $1,500.

wow man, so what do we have to say about the 7800gtx then? is it really worth spending on a 256mb 7800gtx or should i just get a x1800 xt.

I think you should try the x1800 XT just for the hell of it. I mean, everyone's here mainly nvidia this and that. Make sure you have a decent CPU too because those tests that 3dMark perform does use some CPU test which will affect overall score.

Yeah, anything below an fx or a dual core will cause a bottleneck most likely.
