well heres the deal. i really want to have a NICE computer, one that beats out all my friends' systems including their fancy overpriced alienware computers. im pretty competitive when it comes to having nice things, plus i just got black and white 2 and its beocming evident that im gunna need a new system to play the new generation of games!
i set up my shopping cart at newegg and this is what i have:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+

eVGA Geforce 7800GT

ASUS A8N-E Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard

with 1 gig ram and tsumani case. i want to get a 21" flat crt screen and the speakers i have now is my stereo system so thats pretty decent for now so i figure ill skip out on the sound card for now and use the onboard sound for a while. i also need to get a new keyboard and mouse.
only problem is im having trouble actualy spending the money! im very reluctant to actualy buy the stuff. maybe i just need a second opinion, is this gunna be a sweet rig? i know it could be better but is the x2 processor worth the money or should i go with the standard amd 3500+ that everyone seems to have? i just dont want to buy this stuff and either lose interest in the project or regret spending $1500 on a computer.
idk, lemme know what you think. what improvements could be made? do any of you regret pouring money into your system? i have the money, but once i spend it, its gone forever, ya know? and its not like this thing will have any resale value after 5-10 years.
