New motherboard and CPU combo

Hey guys.

Recently my CPU on my computer has blow out.
A couple of months ago i grounded out my motherboard (it was old and my brother hit the turn on button too soon ><).

Now i am looking for a new CPU and MOBO combonation.

My old CPU was a AMD Athlon XP 2000+ and im not sure of my motherboard (got it from my neighboor)

Here are my specs: nVidia Gforce FX 5200 Ultra. 512 Ram. Soundblaster sound card. Ethernet card. i do alot of mutimedia stuff and a little gaming.

My budget is under 300$ and i dont need anything too fancy just somthing to work better then the last.

the cpu seems fine, but i dont know about the motherboard, have you looked at any asus mobo's they're generally "critically acclaimed"

thats a pretty decent combo, I think it will work good for what you are going to do with it. maybe get another 512 stick of ram though, it helps with multimedia stuff.
