x1800 xl out

I think most of you guys miss the point. Pipelines don't make the card, it's a combination of pieplines, memory clock speed, core clock speed, amount of memory, and, the new factor, dual GPUing (if that's what you wish to call it)

I read an article, I posted it in the ATi vs nVidia thread as well, that shows how ONE X1800XT performs against TWO 7800GTxs. The comparison was interesting, because the 7800GTX barely beat it, and that, at least from what I was reading, was TWO 7800GTXs vs ONE X1800XT.

The speed on the X1800 is better then the 7800GTX. As we can see from these links...

http://www.ati.com/products/RadeonX1800/specs.html

http://nvidia.com/page/specs_gf7800.html

The X1800XT has 64 bit image floating, 7800GTX only supports up to 32 bit image floating.

The X1800XT has GDDR4, yes that's right GDDR4. The 7800GTX has GDDR3.

The X1800XL has clock speeds of 500/1000, the 7800GTX has 450/1200, and this is the XL model, not the XT model...

I think you can see that although dispite the fact that it has less pixel pipelines, it still can beat the 7800GTX in a wide variety of catagories.

But I could careless, I'd be happy owning either of them!!! :)

Well we can assume that the clock speeds are going to be no more then 600/1300 or somewhere around there. thats better then the 7800 gtx, but not much. uless the xt or pe or w/e will need to have the 24 pipelines to really compete. And about the one xt standing up to two 7800 gtx's, well, no real official x1800xt benchmarks are out that are reliable. However i expect the peformance increase of using two x1800's to be greater then two 7800 gtx's, which is something like a %47 increase. ATI announced in an article they are looking at about a %70 increase in peformance when u use 2 x1800's of any kind, thats a big difference and may make the x1800 series (which isnt even supose to be the competitor to the 7800 gtx), beat it. The r580 is suppose to be ATI's answer to the 7800 gtx, and is suppose to do much better then it in benchmarks.
