I want to get a laptop, im not sure what kind yet, but my question is: We have Verizon DSL. Its not wireless, so what would I have to do to get wireless internet on my laptop?

You'de have to get a wireless router, like http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833129014

Then you'd need a wireless card for your laptop like
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833124110

Those are both just examples.

If you are planning on having more than one computer on this wireless network and that computer is a desktop, then you'll also need to have the second computer hooked up with a wireless adapter like this...

The hardware should also come with all the necissary software for the installation.

Thanks for the info, and i would have my main computer just plugged in like normal, and only my laptop would be on the wireless thing.

yeah, here its just the opposite. I got a laptop connected to the modem and desktop upstairs on the wireless. Sometimes wireless can be a pain in the ass but it usually works fine.

Don't you have to have at least one wired PC to configure the network and make it work? I think some routers are picky and won't allow control panel access if you are on a completely wireless network. For security reasons too. There has to be a hard connection somewhere. Someone correct me on this as I am not 100% sure. In my case as an example, I have my main desktop PC right here in the same room with my cable modem. That one is using the CAT5e cable so no wireless is involved there. My laptop is wireless and have built wireless adapter already so I can go anywhere or even outside the house and pick up my wireless router signal. So neat.
