I have a computer that boots up normally until the screen comes up asking if you want to proceed using Safe mode or Regular mode. If I use safemode I can get in. IF i try to go in normally it gets to the point where it says windows XP and the blue bar is moving, but after that the screen just goes black. Could anyone suggest where to look the the problem?

Thanks,
Kyle

Sounds to me like something's got corrupted in regular mode, meaning Windows can't load. Unfortunately, there's no easy way of telling.

In safe mode, Windows only uses the bare minimum to get started. Something else needed for regular mode is either corrupted or missing; you may need to reinstall or use a recovery disk.

Thanks for the reply. I formatted the drive and I am trying to reinstall Windows. It starts to load the files then says cannot copy cdaudio.sys Does this mean my Windows CD is screwed?
