This is the USS Missouri (BB-63), the last battleship to be completed by the United States, docked at Ford Island, Pearl Harbour. This is the very same ship that hosted the formal surrender ceremony of the Japanese Empire, which officially ended WWII.

USS Missouri, veteran of four wars, was decommissioned for the final time on 31 March 1992 at Long Beach, CA, and docked at Ford Island on June 22 1992 after a 2,300-mile voyage across the Pacific.

About 470m NE of the Missouri lies the USS Arizona BB-39, final resting place for many of the ship's 1,177 crewmen who lost their lives on December 7, 1941.

Contrary to popular belief, the USS Arizona is no longer in commission. As a special tribute to the ship and her lost crew, the United States flag flies from the flagpole, which is attached to the severed mainmast of the sunken battleship. The USS Arizona Memorial has come to commemorate all military personnel killed in the Pearl Harbour attack.

my house is in a high-res area and i think its frigen creepy!

my house is like 5 mins away from where the sydney 2000 olympics was. so like we are in the same image and i can see my mums car like parked outside my house and what not.... CREEPY I TELLS YA!

I´m close to the city so my area is in high-resolution I live in Epping by the way But my house is covered by trees so you can only see part of the roof lol, Epping is the land of trees
Anyways, Google Earth is pretty good, but if you go to the more isolated areas, its very hard to get decent photos ... other than that, it looks extremely good

That would be a cool idea, but i'm not exactly sure that it'll work, the Google team will have to co-ordinate a whole competition, and seeing the popularity of Google Earth, i think it would be a massive job, i think that they would be working on other projects, the Google staff themselves have been told that they shoudl use 20% or their time for personal projects, apparently, thats how Google News and a few other features were made
