Ok, I just bought a Tape drive and it takes an FDD slot. One thing is: How do I configure my BIOS so I can start using my tape drive?

No instructions with it?
I'm gonna have to get in my bios to answer that BRB.

Ok well there is no setting for it in my AMI bios. I would be lead to think it's a SCSI drive and will require a SCSI interface pci card and SCSI cable.

I bought it used. It's an HP colorado T1000

I got it for $5 with a 5GB tape

And it's FDD interface

$5??? Wow, not bad. Lets just hope you can get it working.

I wonder how good these drives are as backup purposes. For instance, shelf life? Corruption?

Plus, how long does it take to copy/recieve data back and forth?

Oh it works. It's just not detected....as it uses FDd interface...

Should I get an external Tape drive that has parallel interface instead?

They're good for everything...exept for games

It's faster than a floppy...probably 4MB/sec

Looks interesting. I'll install them now and tell what's up after...hope it works

And it didn't...ah well, I'll get an external one with LPT1 interface. You could do this too
