My dialup internet just keeps dropping and reconnecting randomly it isn't set to disconnect at any time. why is this happening.

what browser are you using, i know that AOL used to do that to me when i had dial-up.

Not really. Your ISP provide you with a variety of numbers you can use to dial out. You should check into the program you use to logon and see if there's an option to modify or change the telephone number.

It's been a long time since I used dial up but usually there's a program you use to login to the INternet. If you use Netzero, they provide you with a software where you have to put your memberid and password. On the bottom, you click on Modify and click somewhere to change that. I find it very useful before when I couldn't get on the Internet or when it would disconnect early off and on. You'll have to see if you can find the access numbers somewhere in there. Usually it's a long list of telephone numbers categorized by cities in regards to your location. Some are long distance and some are local. I would select all the phone numbers that you know are local to you and OK it. Then try logging on to the internet again. There is also an option to allow the Internet software to retry the number so many times if it fails to connect. If it fails with one number, it will automatically try the other numbers you selected before in that list and so on. If none of those numbers log you on or you keep getting disconnected, you need to reinstall a new version of your ISP software.
