Yess, i am a noob.
i have a basic and i mean basic laptop
and i wanna get a new video card for it
can i?

it's just a dell INSPIRON 1000.

Unfortunately, no. Notebook graphics are all integrated and soldered into the motherboard itself.

Which is why I wish they were upgradable. lol... once you get a labtop with those settings they stay that way. sorry.

Ta Da... Never fear, Seti's here.
Check with Dell and see if they have a DOCK for that rig. If they do it normally have a couple of pci slots. HHMMMMM. Pci video card...
I'm getting one for my Toshiba.

That's true... but his labtop is basic, like starting out user level. That's possible though. I've seen those HP ones... they are nice, I have to admit.

Don't worry. nVIDIA is coming out with the MXM (Mobile PCI-Express Module). The new GeForce Go 7800 GTX will use it. It's basically a small PCB that has the GPU core, video RAM, and the PCI-E slot interface. It allows you to upgrade to high models of MXM provided that your laptop lets you do so.
