Problems with installing

Ok utility did not work until i finally relized the problem. In BIOS it was detecting PATA not SATA, so I switched them around and now it detects my HD. But now I ran the utility disk and did everything it said. When I restarted i encountered another problem. When it boots up it says it can't find NTLDR so i found a disk for it and used, it works but now my hal.dll is missing or corrupted. I can't repair it because both of my drives are missing for some reason. So any suggestions on this would really help me

jesus, so many problems. the only thing i've encountered with S-ATA's were, when installing, my mobo didnt recongnize it.. so i thought the HD was broken. so during setup you gotta go into f6 to install any RAID drivers (ie. S-ATA) so you put in a boot distk you make from a computer that works..and you should be ready to go. if that doesnt work out.. go to microsoft.com and get the bootdisks on floppy for xp for a complete install, i'll post the links in a few min
