I currently am thinking about upgrading my old emachines

And these are its future specs:
1 gig ram
p4s533-X motherboard
XFX Geforce 6800 128MB 256-bit DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card
40 gig harddrive(i dont care)
2.6ghz celeron cpu( THis processor obviously isnt for gaming so i plan to upgrade to a 3.0ghz p4)

With those specs, including the 3.0ghz p4, unless you think the celeron 2.6ghz can handle gaming, can someone please tell me ideas, and if it can play these games?
-Battlefield 2
-Half life 2
-Call of Duty 2
-Doom 3

and such on newer games on medium to high settings

Not really... your mobo and CPU is laggish

If you'd use these:

ASUS P4C800-E OR P4P800-SE and a P4 3GHz CPU, you'll be OK

your other one supports a 533MHZ FSB while this one is an 800MHZ so does the P4 CPU.

a 40GB?!? Well, if you want, try at least a 80GB or for more speed, a 74GB 10,000RPM...or if the budget gives it, try a 100GB 15,000RPM

dude! Don't go with ASRock! These mobos suck for gaming and they fry easily! Go at least with ASUS

well that was the only mobo I saw that had both AGP and PCI-e so that way he could upgrade to pci-e later without having to buy a new motherboard

ok final specs, someone please tell me it can play battlefield 2 on medium with decent framerate

Upgrade mobo

ASUS P4C800-E OR P4P800-SE...

Leave these older mobo's alone and it won't handle the CPU as supposed to handle
