I would buy a normal system without starving and dying, then having it become obsolete within few years.

Absolutely. But that is a friggin server not a PC! Only servers have those kinda specs. I'd say that unless you planned to utilize it with extreme gaming "LAN parties", using your computer (server) as the base server, trying to treat it as a PC will result in alot of wasted power and resources.

Not to mention paying $13,000 is unheard of for a PC. I'd buy a car. You can build a similar system for significantly less money if you substitute a few of the "top-notch" media items (like the guy on the first page said about his computer being 13x less than this monster).

I agree that the resources are wasted.

The majority of the software today do NOT support such large amounts of memory, they may run and then crash, or not run at all, it is too fast.

It would be nothing but a big expensive disaster.

That is a waste of money, AND someone can build a computer with lower specifications than that and still beat it where performance is concerned, that is a fact.

I study these things.

That is not a smart choice.

Server, yes, this is for those whom have extremely high hit rates and are always in need of an extremely large amount of resources.

Of course it doesnt... duh... I never said it did. I just said it was the ultimate comp... thank you... not a waste of money because you could have the ultimate comp that wouold enable you to be technologically advanced for many years to come... 5-6 years I presume. There are some things that this comp does not increase performance at, but there are so many things that this computer does excel at. Serfer indeed. but it can be used, of course, to do normal things. The storage is immense, the speed is incredible, the multitasking is crazy... they do not crash. Too much ram will never make a program crash, at least to my knowledge. I doubt it. THe more the merrier, unless that's virsuses your talking about. You shouldn't assume it would be a disaster. It's not even close. It's an incredible pc. One that outperforms all, today, and even better tomorrow. Thank you. It is expensive... notice I never said anything about it being affordable...

where's your proof of all of this? You need proof my friend. you can't just go off from a "gut" feeling. Of course you know what you're talking about. Actually... it's a waste of money. I know that. Please... understand me here. I don't think you are. I said it was the ultimate comp, and that I never said it was a waste of money or that it wasn't. Of course it's a waste. I wouldn't even think about even going past $3000 on a comp, ever. But I said it was the ultimate pc... I did. Thank you. Acutally, for ram, programs don't randomly crash because of excess memory. I've never seen that happen. Windows might not recognize that much memory, but it won't harm the comptuer. It'll just help it. Again, where's your proof? If you want mine, I'll give it to you. Anytime. Just ask for it. I'll pm you with the full proof. but where's yours? Where in the world does it say that too much memory will hurt your computer? Where? I've never seen that in my entire life. Again, how do you "know" it will be a disaster when it has already been built and has already been benchmarked and has already destroyed many other computers of today? Trust me... proof you'll get if you want it. I'll say it again... It's already been built and has destroyed competition like no other. Not in all aspects, as software just doesn't utilize dual cores like that today, but it does to a certain extent. HOw do you know it would become obselte very soon? can you see into the future? You can't know, and I know that. No one can see into the future. If you beleive in that sort of stuff... well, I'm sorry for you. I said that abnormal amounts of memory can cause unusual behavour in computers that are NOT built in such a way that it would allow you to exceed the supported amount of memory, as many of them just don't use any more than they support, for example: A 512MB mobo limit would mean that if I put in 1024MB it would just say 512MB and would not use the other 512MB.

While some don't, risking problems.
