if AMD are so good why...

Haha, I still highly respect Intel for what they've done to Computers...they deserve it.

Yeah, too true... but still... forget the past... AMD is ruling now with better cpu's and temps and game processing and I'm lovin' it... :D

Haha, but if it wasn't for Intel, AMD would be sunk. Or it would take them longer...eh, whatever.

Yeah, I know.... I said the past is good... it's just the present that I like... and it's gonna get better... no doubt... we have 8 cores possible on some mobo's... I think it was the tyan something... forgot the name... lol... four cpu slots... so you get four dual core opterons... lol... 17.6ghz baby... yes... 64G of ram.... sli... oh man... I want I want...

lol and you would use all of that RAM for . . . massive porn download and theature?!

Um.... no... it's called multitasking beyond human brain waves could ever comprehend...

take a joke :D.

but yes that would be some serious power their (is it their or there? obviously public education has failed me :D). but anyways, does anyone know about intels plan for their next generation of processors? I heard rumors that their supposedly building a processor with minimal architecture based on the pentium IIII/III/II series. If so, such a different processor could really make or brake Intel's future.

They're trying to base it on the Pentium M's architecture, which would be low power, while giving good performance. I think the successor to the Prescott core is the Conroe core, codenamed "Allendale" and it'll be manufactured with the 65nm process and support the EM64T instruction set.

in my experince the prescotts run hot. Hopefully intel will address that in their new conroe core. Plust the fact that most intel 64 bit cpu's thar are even decent are pretty expensive, (and those are 90nm), so i'm guessing the "Allendale" will be out of the price range for most consumers. I don't like it when companies (Intel seems to do it more then AMD) make these high end chips. I see the need for all companies to innovate with new things like intels 65 nm 64 bit "allendale" processor, but the pricetag on things like these makes me wonder how many people can actually afford them? And if sometimes companies would be better off if they took value into consideration, not just making the most super-1337 processor that they can.

however, in contrast to what i just said about top of the line expensive processors, i am looking forward to the release of intels kentsfield xe, but thats proably a lil whiles off.

And if intel suceeds in creating a more efficent processor then the pentium m, i think amd is going to have a real problem even trying to compete wth intel in the moblie market.

They all ready do have a tough time competing with Intel in the mobile market dont they?
