So Spanky, your saying the Windows XP home preinstalled software CD "serial number" that came with the computer will not work with a full install version of Windows XP home?

What grounds have you to confirm?

Uhhhm.... that's the whole point of a serial number: it only works with its original copy.

Disagree with you there matey. Any general serial number should in effect work with any disc of Wnidows XP provided its the same edition.

First of all, why did you ask if you think you knew the answer? Second, it won't work. One serial number works with one copy of Windows unless it's an illegally modified version of Windows.
