Help with Hard Drive recognition on reboot

Like exactly how though... I'm not planning on doing any raid set up and seek and latency times are the same. Having a giant IDE cable running though your case is a down, but my mobo came with round IDE cables so it's not so bad. Since I've got this IDE ATA drive and it's workin' fine, is it worth it to buy a new Sata or SataII drive? I mean would I REALLY see a proformance increase?
