good choice of LCD?

Yeah, it has a good respone time and would be great for gaming :). But have you looked into the bigger brother of that model? The Viewsonic VX924:

If you have the money, invest on one of these, they're awesome! But coming back to your monitor. It has all the requirements of a gaming LCD, but if you can, you might want to get one that can support 1600 x 1200 resolutions. I'm not to sure on LCDs supporting this, and so this might be redundant information but games look a lot better on this resoultion.

How much do you have to spend?

All wrong from the start .... for a good sharp clear monitor you want a ctr, much better for shap stuff

im done with CRT's, they are too bulky for what I want, I have a desk that is 3 feet by 2 feet, so space is precious.

WHen using LCD monitor, please use the DVI output. Your video card must support it though, but the quality improves a bunch.
