What are you getting for the extra $$$?

Upon comparing the specs side-by-side I see that the higher-priced one has better on-board sound and more RAID/HD features. If you don't need or care about that, what else are you getting for the additional cost?

There were 4 other DFI boards listed in between those two extremes, all with SLI support, Dual Channel, same FSB etc. Are some better for O/Cing or something? If so, what makes them better?

Well like you said, the $198 does have more RAID features and better on board sound, but it does also have SATA connectors (along with SATA II and PATA) with RAID functions on that, and it says near the bottom that it has an embedded overclocking solution (whatever one of those are??), but I can't really see what the extra $75 is getting you??

The only other thing I can think of is that it has a better SLi setup?

But I have a feeling he isn't going to be having LANparties in the near future, and if he isn't, then he definitely isn't going to be hosting LANparties and so he can save him self the $75 and buy better RAM, or a better processor!

What, are you calling me some kind of loser????

I do go to them occasionally but have never hosted one. Much easier just to hook up online.

So, it seems it's mostly the age of the Mobo's and a few features that differentiate them. If I don't need those features and it supports the CPU I want then I'll probably just go with the cheaper option and, like Deceived said, use the $$$ for something else.

Haha no Chris, far from it Hooking up online is MUCH easier is what I was trying to say (and I think I remember you saying that your cmp was outdated by a long way)
