hey there,

I'm having trouble getting XP installed on one of my machines. I'm ussing a S-ATA controller and hard disk, and provide the driver floppy during the installation of XP. Then i create a fres partition - this comes up as a RAW partition, is this correct? Anyway, once i've done this i select it for XP to be installed on, but the setup says that XP cannot be installed on that type of partition. Any ideas?

if your hard drive is retail, it usually comes with its own partitioning disc that you can use. So if your HD is retail, try that.

i don't have any disks, only the one for the S-ATA controller itself, which contains only the driver. I need a boot disk that will allow me to format as NTFS

EDIT: All seems to be working fine now. I had another go at creating the partition and it then allowed me to format it ready for XP. The strange thing is that i was doing exactly the same thing before, only it was not giving me an option to format. Strange eh?
