whats better?

Well, considering the power of two 6800gt's at 512mb and that, two 6800gt's would be a more powerful solution to a 7800gtx, but, if you really break it down, they're almost the same. But two 6800gt's, from the benchmark's I've seen would offer a little more of an increase in performance. Why? Because the clock's of the 6800gt are like, what, 420mhz, and the 7800gtzx was around 425mhz, so not much, and with dual's the performance is seen....

so if i got a second 6800gt and overclocked to 430/1140 like my other one how long will it be able to play all the new games on highest settings?

For at least 2-4 years, considering that the gaming industry doesn't just go ultra graphics and make it so graphically intense, these new games, that you HAVE to get a new vid. card... yeah, it'll last you.

2 6800gts in sli or 1 7800gtx?

2 6800gts are a bit better, but if you want it to last longer get a 7800gtx then later down the line when it's not powerful enough to play games on high get a second and put them into sli. this will make them last longer.

2 6800's are still better than one 7800gtx, but the 7800gtx can achieve outstanding performance. There would be no need to pay extra money for 2 cards when you can get nearly the same power out of one card. Simply, 7800gtx will do anything you want it to for less money than 2x6800's.
