Good Day,

Here is a short summary of what I recommend.

Download and Install:

1.Spybot Search and Destroy

2.Xoftspy

3.Adaware

4.Spyware Blaster (the most important one).

Please carefully read and follow ALL instructions issued by these programs.

After your first scan and clean, restart in safe mode and scan again, as they conceal themsleves in Normal mode.

I agree that the 336 MHZ Machine does not suck.

These systems are extremely useful and they played the games of their time very well.

Also, those huge new games are Graphics Intensive, rather than processor.

I use a 933MHZ HP Vectra, it doesn't suck.

These systems are good for use as Linux and UNIX Based Servers, as well as Windows.

Also, they are suitable for Data Entry, Programming, School Assignments, Internet surfing, music playing, cd burning, and much more.

Some people even have to keep their old computers for various reasons as they are used for certain things, that the new machines cannot do, because of their partition format and current Operating System.

It can also be used as a Router w/Firewall. (linux) and offers more security features and options that a single firewall installed on a modern PC.

Gateway System, etc.

Thank You, people should not rag on other peoples machines, I strongly disagree with that, and it is cruel, mind your own things.
thanks man..
i appreciate it
besides i don't use my computer for hardcore gaming and stuff..
but where do i get Linux...
theres a few things i wna use that to do...
i wna keep windows and use MS-DOS style applications also.
keeping in mind i don't spend any money on applications.

Good Day

Good Day,

No problem. :)

I agree with you and...

I don't do any hardcore gaming either.

I keep an old system myself (two actually).

MS-DOS can be quite useful, also QBASIC.

go to: http://linuxiso.org

You can download a Linux Distribution from there.

I would recommend Fedora or Redhat, FreeBSD and Solaris if you want UNIX.

:)

I want the same thing that you want, buy AMD, the cost is less and you get higher speeds, and don't buy Maxtor or Western Digital Drives.

...

It also depends on if you are building it or buying it, for me to help you, or maybe these gurus can help you, although they know the more expensive ones better, but if your budget isn't tight then sure.

Mine is extremely tight, Ican't afford anything now.

No Problem :)

:)

Good Day,

cool, wow, that is a good amount of space, i only have a 20g hdd.

:(
yeahh i wna get... 2x250GB..
my uncle can get all the parts from pakistan really cheap...
so its all goes..
i'll probably get one of those really cool whizzy cases with loads of lights and sensors from the internet somewhere..

Get an AMD PC, with Cool 'n' Quiet technology.

Never get a Dell or any Intel-based desktop. They get their butts beat by AMD in most tasks, they consume way too much power, and run too hot.

ahh cool.. thanks man
i might get one custum built infact
but its just that.. Dells look good... i like the black chassis

Good Day

Good Day,

I would advise you not to buy Dell.

Their computers are not as good as they say they are, and you can still get much nicer cases elsewhere, you can buy one and build a system.

Linux:

Don't be afraid to download Linux, be afraid to install and use it :D

I'm joking.

Sure, you can download Linux safely and use Windows but...It is quite a complex task to configure it to Dual Boot Certain Versions of it with Windows (particularly Redhat 7.1).

I couldn't even do it myself (I didn't read the book :( ).

It also uses a special partition type (linux native) and so on (based on the old version, I have a bandwith limitation and can't download the new one as it would break the rules :(( ).

cool (the HDD's).

What brand of Hard Disk Drive are you buying?

Also, I would not recommend that you use both Hard Disk Drives as one as it will put your data at high risk.

Sorry for being such a bubble popper and party pooper.

I just want to make sure you're comfortable with what you use and that it is safe.

jac006, you think you could contact me please?

Thank You.
