To scratchbuild or not?

Im need a desktop for video editing and multitrack audio production. Im not to keen on scratchbuilding for the sheer fact of support. If I buy from a manufacturer it comes to my house guarenteed to work. If I dont, then I'm stuck if something doesn't work. My budget is $1800. My only requirements are:

*dvd burner
*dual monitor support
*15" flat panel + 17" flat panel included in budget
*at least 3 usable pci slots for multitrack soundcards
*no soundcard (i've chosen those)
*firewire on front
* 2G RAM

and thats about it. After shopping around I found that an HP d4100y fills these requirements unless someone has a better choice. Or if scratchbuilding will get aton more for the buck then I may need to consider that.

Thanks.

You can DEFINITELY get a great PC for that for 1800 Dollars!!!! If you want one of us can price one up for video and audio editting, just say the word!

dude go to dell.com and get there new dimentioin 9100 and configure it to your needs, thats wut i have and if you look in my sig it says wut i have in it, and it cost just over 1300. and that price includes tax, moniter, speakers and keybored, so you could just get the computer and nothing more and save a couple hundred. or go to http://www.newegg.com/ or http://targetpcinc.com/ and get one of the bare bone systems. and then get wut ever you need after you get the main system.
