Norton Ghost

I am having a problem retrieving my backup image from norton ghost. I backed my data up awhile ago on DVDs and wouldn't you know it, my hard drive crashed. I got a new hard drive and restored my system from the DVDs. Everything appeared to restore correctly except that my system won't boot from the new hard drive. Do I have to format or partition the new drive before installing the restored image? Thanks for any help.

I believe before you can restore you must reinstall your original OS... then norton and then retore the backups. If you installed your OS tell us... and it is probably something else.

No, Someone told me that since ghost took a snapshot of the whole drive then it should bring windows back with it during the restore. He might of been wrong. I will have to reinstall windows and try it again. Thanks

from what i understand of it it doesn't save the OS but it does save all the settings.
