Corrupt file....cant fix it !?!?!?!!! help me?!!!?!?!

Ok so when i turn my computer on i get this message:

The file or directory C:/system volume information/_restore{30b25555-6b04-483a-a8a1-15955945d2c9}/rp155/change.log is corrupt and cannot be read.


The message is something like that. It tells you to run chkdsk however i cannot get my chkdsk working.....

For some reason it wont get past one of the tests on chkdsk on startup...and it will only run in read only mode on non start up...


PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!

i guess i didnt phrase it right... i meant to say that when i try to run it on startup it wont run a full scan.... if i do it on nonstartup it will run only in read only

Insert the windows disk and boot from it. Then choose repair and write CHKDSK in the console.

how do i boot form a cd. it wont let me... or i cant figure it out anyway

BIOS, make it so it reads from the cd rom drive before the hard drive.

i was using bios but its compaqs and it has confused me

if you see "boot sequence" or "boot ordeR" make it so cd drive is on top.

1st boot: Floppy
2nd boot: cdrom
3rd boot: hard drive

Swap it so it looks like this:

1st boot: cdrom
2nd boot: floppy
3rd boot: hard drive
