What are .iso files for?

Its an operating system...

Do u need to install the OS from the cd? If so then I think that u have to make it an image disk. This can be done atleast by alcohol 120%, I also think that nero can do these kind of disks. I am not 100% sure about this but I think that u will get it working this way, never burned a image disk before, I just don't like cds, somehow the one that u need is always the one u can't find.

Yep, I use Alcohol120% for burning games and patching the ISO.

Just use winrar to extract and look at the files. It extracts like any win zip file would.
