hi

im going to get a new desktop pc for my up stairs bedroom..
down stairs i alrready have a computer which is linked to a broadband router... which uses usb

is there any way that i can link up with the broadband from upstairs. the computer says it has 802.11g Wireless Network .

im not sure what that is. but can i connect to the broadband wirelessly?

Absolutely. You will need a wireless router to do that coupled with wireless adapters on each PC. Internet sharing is instant. File and Print sharing you will need to configure.

Get this wireless router:

LINKSYS WRT54G IEEE 802.11b/g, 802.3 Wireless-G Broadband Router

Wireless adapter:

LINKSYS WMP54G IEEE 802.11b/g PCI Wireless Adapter up to 54Mbps Data Rates 64/128-Bit WEP

...if ithe PC doesn't have built in wireless capability.

Check out how cool this USB network adapater is. So good looking:

LINKSYS USB200M 10/100Mbps USB Network Adapter 1x RJ-45

That thing is small.

hm.......... actually.. well the broadband router i already got..... has a lan port lol..

does anyone know how far the wire can go until the signal is realy crap?

That depends on several things such as type of cable used, how strong the original signal is, the shielding used, et cetera. You can still use wireless - just plug a wireless router into the LAN port.
