DVD Burner help

I think I have everything hooked up. I have an Asus A8V Deluxe VIA K8T800Pro socket 939 Motherboard, a LG 16X Dual Layer DVD-RW Drive,and a SONY CD-ROM DRIVE INTERNAL 52X. But when I enter BIOS it says not detected. Everything else works but I can't use the cd-rom or the dvd-rw.

Do you have your dvd and cd set on master and slave? And do you have them on the master and slave part of the cable?

Flip the IDE cable upside down! There is no way to distinguish it but it has happened!!!

Good call..

Check the IDE 1st.. On most IDE cables there is an orange or red stripe. This stripe needs to be on the #1 pin. The #1 pin is usally next to the molex powerplug.

i can't flip it, it has a knob at the top it doesn't fit upside down.

ok,, that rules out the IDE cable..

Did you put the computer together? And Did the drives ever work?

do you have another cd or dvds drive in? if so
the dvd drive might be conflicing with the other drive that happened to me, try takeing the old one out.

Master vs Slave, make sure they are diffrent via Jumpers. Try making the DVD slvae, and old on master.

Was there only one drive in before the instilation?

this happened to me once u have to make sure one is set to master and one is set to slave
