I guess it depends on your father's choice ...
If he finds it unsuitable or in some way violent maybe it is ... i would try to make a deal, for example, you won't play any of those violent games but able to play games which are reasonable at your age

depends on the game... and weather your dad wants you playing those sort of games... personally, id say dont play them... that will earn you more respect than playing them behind his back when he doesnt want you playing them....

yeah i usually don't play em behind his back...i usually play em over at friends houses and come home and tell him...he dont' care about that ... just won't let me have it!! your lucky dyserq...my parents used to be even worse than they are now... i used to get EVERYTHING that had anything to do w/ video games taken away if i got a B in any class!! + i didn't have a computer...dad wouldn't let me...then i couldn't have a TV in my room...or my "PS one" which was big back then . nuthing....but for one reason or another i can now!! he bought my computer and a 27" TV for my room and a DVD/VCR player and an XBOX one of each for me and my brother. my brother don't like computers so he got stuck w/ a dell hehehe. i am gratefull for everything hes given me...i guess i just need sumthing to complain about...but still...if i actually saw a reason for me not being able to have them i wouldn't get so mad about it. but im the one paying for it...it wouldn't have anything that would make him have a harder life...just cuz some idiot somewere rated it M cuz there's blood in it!!

srry for double post...but i just talked to my parents about it. i made a scenario for my dad. i said ok...lets say that the ppl that rated games rated a game i wanted T. and the game had content in it that you didn't think was acceptable and you wouldn't let me have it. he said yeah i wouldn't let you have it. so i said, so you judge the game by content? him, yes, i judge by content. then i said ok...so why sould it be differant when your judging a game thats rated M? he said that the ppl that rate then think that some content in it shouldn't be allowed for ppl under 18. so i said...well you just said you judged by content and in this scenario you arent', your going by what the other ppl thought. and in your opinion they were wrong to let the T game be rated T so why should all their M rated games be out of the question? he made an analagy to the US laws. he said that the city law will allow you to do things, but the county laws wouldnt', and the state and federal. he said its the same principle. i completly disagree. the analagy is kinda confusing but i understand what he's trying to say. i just don't agree w/ him.

Well ... do you think that he could not have given you thsoe things then but gave them to you now because of your studies ? He has given you quite alot, both you and your brother ... maybe there are just limitations in him, there are limitations in everyone ... he may have an extremely good reason but just though it may be better if you don't know ...

IDK my parents are really open. I mean really really open. Pretty much if its not illegal they'd let me have it. And I mean sure maybe a porno game or somthing along those lines understandable. But the games you want really don't sound that bad.

lol...i think my dad gave me all that stuff cuz he promised to turn our garage into an entertainment room w/ a BIG screen TV and a xbox and a good sound system that we could use all the time. but he decided to cancel that and made us a deal cuz he wasn't keeping his promise...he asked if he bought all this stuff if we could cancel his promise. he's actually a pretty good dad. but i just get soo mad at him for no reason alot of times...and this is one of em...i don't se any reason for not allowing m rated games!! now if he limited them then i can see that...but just cuz of blood???

There's nothing wrong with M rated games, just as long as you know the difference between right and wrong and retain your common sense.

But i guess its a way of life ...
If you have children you would want the best possible environment for them to grow up in won't you ? I think that he is just fulfilling his duties as your father
There are always times of disagreements but we always try to find a solution
